Kate Middleton is making a “steady recovery” following her abdominal surgery last month, according to a royal expert.
The Princess of Wales, 42, has been out and about with her family, most recently venturing out to Norfolk, east of England, after weeks of recovering behind closed doors at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
Royal expert Jennie Bond says the trip has been a “most welcome change” for her since she was discharged from the hospital on Jan. 29.
“One of the great beauties of Norfolk is that it is so accessible from London,” Bond told OK! magazine.
“Windsor is lovely, and they have a beautiful house, of course. But it’s also on the Heathrow flight path and that can be very intrusive. William and Kate find all they want as a family in the wide open spaces that Norfolk offers.”

Bond noted that the Prince and Princess of Wales “have quite a few friends who live there.”
“I think it’s very encouraging that Kate has been well enough to make the trip to Sandringham. It shows that she is making a steady recovery,” she added.
“Also, the change will probably be most welcome … the same four walls must get a bit tedious when you are recuperating as she is.”
Middleton, along with Prince William and their three children — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 — enjoyed some family time at their Sandringham Estate, known as Anmer Hall, over the weekend.
The Princess is not expected to make a return to royal duties until after Easter.
Earlier this month, it emerged that the mom of three didn’t tell those close to the royal family about her surgery.
Sources said that news of Middleton’s health woes took loved ones by surprise, especially as “there had been no indication that anything was wrong” with her before her hospitalization on Jan. 16.
As for her father-in-law King Charles, who last week revealed his cancer diagnosis, the monarch has been seen returning to London for more treatment this week.
